Strengthen Core And Improve Posture With Exercises For Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a condition that affects the spine, causing it to curve sideways. This can lead to a variety of problems, including back pain, difficulty breathing, and poor posture. Dr Brian Nantais of the Nantais Family Chiropractic says that exercises can help with Scoliosis.

You can also opt for his Chiropracitc Adjustments but some exercises that he recommends can boost the healing process.

Let’s explore some exercises for scoliosis that can help to strengthen your core and improve your posture:-

     Cat-cow stretch

     Side plank

     Bird dog

     Superman

     Bridge

Cat-cow stretch:

The cat-cow stretch is a gentle exercise that can help to loosen up the muscles in your back and improve spinal flexibility. To perform this exercise, start on your hands and knees with your wrists directly under your shoulders and your knees directly under your hips. As you inhale, arch your back and lift your head and tailbone towards the ceiling. As you exhale, round your spine and tuck your chin to your chest. Repeat this movement for several breaths, focusing on the sensation of lengthening and releasing the muscles in your back.

Side plank:

The side plank is an excellent exercise for strengthening the muscles in your core, including the obliques and transverse abdominis. To perform this exercise, start on your side with your elbow directly under your shoulder and your legs stacked on top of each other. Lift your hips off the ground and hold for several seconds, focusing on engaging your core muscles to maintain stability. Repeat on the other side.

Bird dog:

The bird dog exercise is an effective way to build the muscles in your back and enhance spinal stability. To do this exercise, begin by getting on all fours with your wrists directly beneath your shoulders and your knees directly underneath your hips. Lift up your right arm and left leg off the floor and hold for a few moments, concentrating on engaging the muscles in your back while keeping balance. Switch sides and repeat.

Superman:

The superman exercise is an effective way to build the muscles in your back and enhance spinal steadiness. To do this exercise, lie on your stomach with your arms and legs extended. Lift up your arms, legs, and chest from the ground and hold for a few seconds while concentrating on engaging the muscles in your back and keeping stability.

Bridge:

The bridge exercise is an excellent way to strengthen the muscles in your glutes and lower back, which can help to improve posture and alleviate back pain. To perform this exercise, lie on your back with your knees bent and your feet flat on the ground. Lift your hips off the ground and hold for several seconds, focusing on engaging the muscles in your glutes and lower back. Lower your hips back down to the ground and repeat several times.

Final Words

Dr Brian Nantais of the Nantais Family Chiropractic at the Elevation Health clinic strongly believes that the above exercises will give you positive results if you have Scoliosis.
